It was the first ultrasound modality to record display moving echoes from the heart and thus the motion could be interpreted in terms of myocardial and valvular function even it can help in studying arrhythmias. The M-modes were originally recorded without access to 2- dimensional images. • M-Mode Echocardiography • PW & CW Echocardiography Pulsed Wave ( PW ) has the ability to detect the velocity and direction of blood at a certain point; sampled volume. Continuous Wave ( CW ) has the ability to detect velocity and direction of blood detected along line of measuring;multiple sample volume Pulsed wave can only measure low velocities up to 1.5 m/sec, CW has range ambiguity Pressure gradient can be calculated from measured velocity P=4 (V) 2 • PW & CW Echocardiography • Follow ASE Guidlines • How to write Pediatric Echo Report 1.Descritpion of cardiac lesion 2. Measurement of cardiac chambers & Vessels 3. The Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) examination tests basic pediatric echocardiography knowledge and skills essential to Sonography Professionals. To earn a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential with a PE specialty, you must pass the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination and the PE examination within. After passing the SPI examination, you can earn additional credentials without having to retake the SPI examination, provided you maintain active status. You must wait until the next administration to retake the PE examination if you do not pass the examination. The PE examination assesses the knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology and hemodynamics as appropriate in the pediatric patient. Applicants may pursue the PE specialty under the RDCS credential. Once the PE examination is passed under the selected credential, it cannot be switched. As a windowed examination, scores for the PE examination will be available approximate 60 days after the close of the administration. For more information, review the “Scoring” tab. We periodically conduct a PE Job Task Analysis (JTA) and update the PE examination to reflect the frequency and importance of PE tasks being performed by Sonography Professionals. The latest PE JTA was conducted in 2015. Click to view the . The PE examination is three hours and contains 150 multiple-choice questions, which include hotspot questions. The hotspot questions are that assess and measure your practical sonography skills.
